What Does a Pediatric Sleep Consultant Do?

A pediatric sleep consultant provides personalized guidance and support to help families establish healthy sleep habits for their children. Instead of one-size-fits-all advice, I create a customized plan tailored to your child’s age, temperament, and your family’s lifestyle.

At What Age Should I Start Sleep Training?

It’s never too early to focus on healthy sleep foundations. I work with newborns through toddlers, adjusting the approach based on developmental needs. While formal sleep training typically begins around 4–6 months, there are gentle strategies we can use even earlier to encourage good sleep habits. I also have a free Newborn Sleep Packet available for download to practice a good sleep foundation.

                      What Methods Do You Use?

I take a gentle, family-centered approach. Every child and parent is different, so I offer a variety of methods and adapt them to your comfort level. Whether you prefer a more gradual approach or a faster method, I’ll guide you in choosing a plan that aligns with your values and works for your child.

Do You Believe In the “Cry It Out” Method?

Not necessarily. Some families are comfortable with methods that involve short periods of crying, while others prefer no-cry approaches. My role is to support you in finding a method you feel good about, while still helping your child learn independent sleep skills.

                      How Does the Process Work?

We’ll start with an intake call or questionnaire to learn about your child’s sleep history and your goals. I’ll then create a personalized sleep plan for your family. From there, I provide hands-on support—whether through calls, texts, or check-ins—so you feel confident and supported every step of the way.

How Long Does Sleep Training Take?

Many families begin to see improvements within a few nights, while more gradual approaches may take a couple of weeks. Every child is different, but with consistency and support, meaningful progress happens sooner than most parents expect.

What If My Child Has Reflux, Colic, or Special Circumstances?

Sleep training can often be adapted for babies with medical or developmental challenges, but I always recommend consulting with your pediatrician first. Together, we can create a plan that prioritizes your child’s well-being and comfort.
